Welcome to this Come and Sing event hosted by Ackworth School. This is the first in a series of community musical events as we approach school's 250th anniversary in 2029.
Our singing day is led by Dr Tony Biggin. Tony (www.tonybiggin.com) is a musician, Ackworth Old Scholar and composer of Cry of the Earth and The Gates of Greenham, amongst other compositions. Much of his work is influenced by his Quaker background. Tony is an experienced workshop leader and, as part of Friends in Tune (www.friendsintune.com), he brings tuneful and thought-provoking songs to Quaker Gatherings across the UK and beyond. Join him for a friendly and joyful day exploring how we might turn the world upside down with our singing: about peace, sustainability, equality and community.
We welcome both singers connected to Ackworth School and those from other community choirs, plus anyone who likes a good tune but is not singing regularly! Open to adults and young people aged 14 or older.
This event falls at the end of Ackworth Easter Gathering Weekend - those who are already attending for the weekend can take part for no extra charge (but registration is needed for numbers and catering).
For all other participants, registration costs £20: this includes your sheet music, lunch, tea and coffee.
